Master A. Keith Smith, founder of the Midwest School of Isshinryu, is a 9th-degree black belt (Ku-Dan) with over 50 years of martial arts experience. Since opening his dojo in 1975, he has dedicated his life to teaching, mentoring, and preserving the traditions of Isshin-Ryu Karate.
A lifelong student of the art, Master Smith has trained under respected masters including Grand Master Steve Armstrong and Grand Master Stephen Young. His leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence have earned him induction into the Isshinryu Hall of Fame (2017) and the Illinois Martial Arts Hall of Fame (2024).
This isn’t just karate—it’s a lifelong path.
